Checklist: Post-Installation Tasks

The following applies to Xcellis Foundation, Xcellis Workflow Director, Artico, and aiWARE for XcellisEmbedded (DAE) systems.

After configuring your system you will need to perform post-installation tasks to ready your system for use.

Tasks

Make sure to complete the following post-installation tasks after you configure your system.

To do: Immediately After Using the StorNext Connect Install App

Verify IP Addresses are Functional.

Change the Default Linux StorNext User Account Password.

Update Firewall Settings for SNAPI Configuration Changes.

Reset your laptop settings, and access the system from the public/managment network. See Reset Laptop Settings.

If you want to connect to the system directly, do so through the Service Port. For dual-node (HA) systems, you can connect to the Service Port on either server node. See Configure Network Settings for Your Laptop on quantum.com.

Log into StorNext Connect and install the StorNext Connect license. See License StorNext Connect.

If needed, upgrade your appliance firmware. See Upgrade Firmware.

You must disable target resets for Fibre Channel ports which are used to connect to an FC SAN used for tape storage. See Target Reset and Fibre Channel Tape Support on Qlogic HBA Issues on quantum.com.

Install and/or Configure StorNext Connect and Features, and StorNext Clients

Install the StorNext Connect Connector on Linux clients, and/or Install the Connector on Windows clients, as needed.

Install and Configure the Connect Add-on for Xsan.

Remove alerts and RAS tickets. See Remove StorNext Alerts and Tickets.

Install and/or Configure Purchased StorNext Features

Install additional StorNext feature licenses. See Obtain and Install StorNext Licenses.

The following applies to Artico (R630) systems.

Configure Artico (R630) with Full Disk Encryption (FDE) using Self-Encrypting Drives (SED) for QXS Chassis.

See How to Enable Encryption for QXS SED Drives.

Install and configure DAE and DAE-hosted applications. See the DAE Configuration Instructions using the StorNext GUI on quantum.com.

For Xcellis Foundation and Artico (R630) systems, since they are pre-licensed for NAS, configure StorNext NAS, as needed. See About the Manage NAS App in the StorNext Connect Doc Center, or About StorNext NAS in the Appliance Controller Doc Center.

For Xcellis Workflow Director, aiWARE for Xcellis, License and Configure StorNext NAS, if purchased. See About the Manage NAS App in the StorNext Connect Doc Center, or About StorNext NAS in the Appliance Controller Doc Center.

Configure SNMP functionality, as needed. See SNMP Monitoring in the Appliance Controller Doc Center.

Configure LAN Gateway functionality. See Configure LAN Gateway Functionality.

Enable DDM functionality in the StorNext GUI for node 2 by adding it as a DDM host.

See the Tools > Storage Manager > Distributed Data Mover > Manage DDM Hosts in the StorNext 6 Documentation Centerfor an overview of the host DDM. Use the Add a Host section for configuration instructions

Next Steps

Review the expansion card connections. See Server Network Connections.

Review the Available Training and the Resources for your system.

Review the StorNext Connect System Operation page to learn more about using StorNext Connect to perform day-to-day monitoring and management of your StorNext environment.

Launch the software interfaces for StorNext Connect, QXS and StorNext, as appropriate for your system, by navigating from a web browser to their assigned IP addresses.

  • Remember that component IP addresses are assigned during system configuration on the management (public) network.
  • For systems with StorNext Connect installed, the IP address assigned to StorNext Connect is a non-SSL version of the IP address used for the StorNext GUI (when it is running on node 2).
