Install the Server: Install Considerations and Components

Servers may or may not be shipped on the same pallet as the rest of the components, including QXS disks and chassis, memory, and expansion cards. Component boxes are labeled to identify the contents for easy identification.

Note: For single-node (non-HA) systems, the server is labeled "NODE 2", since the system is "HA-ready" with many optional features are installed and run on node 2 in dual-node (HA) systems. If you add a second server to convert the system to a dual-server (HA) configuration in the future, that server will be labeled "NODE 1".

When you receive your shipment, do the following:

• Remove and read the contents of the “Open Me First” envelope that contains the StorNext Connect authorization code and the "QuickStart: StorNext Connect".

Note: There may be multiple "Open Me First" items, inside boxes, envelopes, or plastic bags shipped with your components. Ignore all "Open Me First" information, except for the StorNext Connect "Open Me First".

• Remove the rails and rail instructions, cables, servers, QXS chassis, bezels and any other contents from the shipping boxes. See Server Components.
• Retain the packaging for future use or recycle the boxes, if possible.

Regardless of the order in which the components are stacked on the shipping pallet, use the following order to install the servers.

1. Place server node 2 immediately above the QXS arrays.
2. For dual-node (HA) systems, place server node 1 above server node 2.
