Rack Installation Guidelines

The rack guidelines presented in this section provide the standard installation racking considerations and recommendations for your system components.

Important Considerations

Review the following information before installing your system in a rack:

All components of the system are designed to fit a standard 19 inch-wide rack.
When you plan for the rack height needed, make sure to include additional rack space for any necessary rack-mounted hardware — any required fibre channel, Infiniband, iSCSI, and network switches — and additional power outlets.
Before installing components in the rack, make sure the rack has been securely mounted to the floor using rack installation standards that are in place at your facility.
Make sure to install the system components at the lowest point available to prevent the rack from being top-heavy and tipping over.
