Add a Workspace

The following information applies to Discover Components V16.

Do you need to install or update Discover Components? See Manage Applications for instructions about the App Store.

Do the following to create a single workspace (cluster), or add additional workspaces to an existing StorNext Connect environment.

Prerequisites

When configuring multiple StorNext workspaces (clusters) for use with StorNext Connect, all nodes in the workspaces must be able to connect to the StorNext Connect system. This requires the StorNext private (metadata) network to be routed or allowed to route to the StorNext Connect system.

MDCs and name servers need to be on the same management network as the StorNext Connect system.

  1. Install and configure the MDC(s) and name server(s) for the workspace following the instructions in the StorNext and Quantum appliance documentation (access documentation from the Quantum Documentation Portal: https://www.quantum.com/documentation).

    Note: StorNext Connect does not install, configure, or update MDCs or name servers.

  2. In StorNext Connect, launch the Discover Components application.
    1. Click the Hamburger icon.
    2. Click Discover Components. The Discover page appears.
  3. Click Rediscover.

  4. Enter the hostname or IP address of the name server in an available box in the Enter your name servers area.

    • Click Add new row + to add a row.
    • Click to delete a row.

    Note: If you have to reset and clear the Discover database because the older and original Discover information is retained, and not superseded by the new and correct information, see How Do I Clear the Discover Database if Incorrect Content Persists?

  5. Click Discover, or click Cancel to abort the operation.

  6. Wait for the rediscovery to complete. Once the discovery is complete, the Discover button becomes a Continue button.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. After adding name servers for additional workspaces, install the Connector on the MDC(s) and name server(s) of the new workspace. Then install the Connector on any other clients that will be part of the workspace.
