Install the QXS Chassis

QXS storage may or may not be shipped on the same pallet as the rest of the components, such as the expansion card kits and server nodes. Component boxes are labeled to identify the contents for easy identification.

When you receive the pallets, do the following:

• Remove and discard the information provided in the “Open Me First” envelope.
• Remove the contents of the QXS storage boxes.
• Make sure you have all the necessary QXS RAID and expansion chassis, as appropriate, for your order.
• Make sure you have all required tools and hardware for rack rail installation. See Checklist: QXS Chassis Installation

Verify that the installation site meets the space and airflow, temperature, and power requirements for the QXS chassis. See the QXS-3/4/6 Series Hybrid Storage Site Planning Guide at www.quantum.com/qxshybriddocs.

Regardless of the order in which the components are stacked on the shipping pallet, use the following order to install the QXS RAID and expansion chassis.

1. Place QXS expansion chassis at the lowest location in the rack.
2. Place the QXS RAID chassis above the expansion chassis.
3. For multiple QXS RAID chassis, it is helpful to keep each QXS RAID chassis together with its associated QXS expansion chassis.
