Remove and Install Hard Drive Carriers
Use the following tasks to remove hard drives from carriers, and to install hard drives into carriers.
Prerequisites
Review the following prerequisites before working with hard drive carriers.
- Read the Safety Instructions. See Remove and Replace Server Components.
- Make sure to have a #1 Phillips screwdriver on-hand.
- Remove the hard drive carrier from the server. See Remove and Install Hot-Swappable Hard Drives.

Remove a Hard Drive From Its Carrier
- Remove the screws from the slide rails on the hard drive carrier.
- Lift the hard drive out of the hard-drive carrier.
Install a Hard Drive Into Its Carrier

With the connector end of the hard drive toward the back, insert the hard drive into the hard drive carrier.

Align the screw holes on the hard drive with the set of screw holes on the hard drive carrier.
When aligned correctly, the back of the hard drive is flush with the back of the hard drive carrier.

Attach the screws to secure the hard drive to the carrier.
