The File System Expansion presentation was led by Steve Cole on July 15th, 2015.

In this presentation for the Quantum StorNext Service teams, Steve discusses troubleshooting techniques for situations where the normal file system expansion process fails, and using cvupdatefs is needed to solve the problem. Three actual customer SRs are included as case studies. 

The presentation covers these high-level topics:

• The standard way to expand a file system using the StorNext GUI
• Using StorNext logs and GUI source code to understand where the GUI file system expansion process failed (SR 3468066 for AOL)
• Using debugging rules, looking at source code, and executing cvfsdb> show journal to examine why journal resizing was not producing the expected outcome and causing file system expansion to fail (SR 3496042 for NOAA)
• Using cvupdatefs to resolve an invalid stripe group error message during file system expansion (SR 3507346 for Michigan State)
