DXi Licensing
The features of the DXi are enabled through licensing options, which are available through the remote management console. See License Keys.
Licenses are either factory-installed on the DXi, or they are available through a license authorization code certificate upon purchase.
The following licenses are available for your DXi:
The Data-in-Flight Encryption license enables use of AES encryption (128-bit, 256-bit, or TLS with AES 256) when replicating data to another system. Data in Flight is factory-installed per capacity ordered on all new DXi systems.
The Data Deduplication license allows the DXi to reduce the size of data stored on the system through the deduplication process. See Data Reduction. (License key is pre-installed on all DXi systems.)
The Network Attached Storage (NAS) license allows NAS shares to be exposed to backup hosts and applications. (License key is pre-installed on all DXi systems.)
The OST license, when enabled, allows a Open Storage Technology (OST) connection. For Veritas users with specific versions of the software, another replication option is available for DXi models through the Veritas OpenStorage (OST) API. (License key pre-installed on all DXi systems.)
The Replication license allows the DXi to replicate data to up to two target systems and received replicated data from up to ten source systems. In systems using DXi 4.1 software or later, the DXi can receive replicated data from up to 30 sources. (License key is pre-installed on all DXi systems.)
The Storage Capacity license is factory-installed for the installed capacity. Additional capacity requires a certificate license key. This license allows the storage capacity of the DXi to be increased. (License key is pre-installed on all DXi systems.)
The VDMS license enables the integration of VDMS backup and recovery. This license will be either factory installed with initial system purchase or provided by certificate if ordered post sale.
