i6 Partitions

Overview

Partitions are logical sections within a physical library that appear as multiple separate libraries for purposes of data management, access by multiple users, or dedication to one or more host applications. You can use partitions to control access to portions of the library by granting permissions to user accounts to access certain partitions.

The available types of partitions are:

Standard

These partitions are visible to hosts and are used for normal backup operations.

Active Vault

These partitions allow you to keep tape cartridges vaulted within a physical library, rather than having to move them to other locations. Cartridges stored in an active vault partition are not managed by a host and the partition contains no tape drives.

Extended Data Lifecycle Management (EDLM)

These partitions allow for media to be moved into them for the purposes of scanning by EDLM drives. An EDLM partition only contains EDLM drives.

LTFS

This partition is automatically created when a Scalar LTFS iBlade is installed. The LTFS partition will automatically import media from configured I/E slots.
