SR3502510, CBS SPORTS QD6000-02 controllers are unresponsive (possibly locked down ?) |
CBS SPORTS FIBRE CHANNEL ISSUES:
====================================================================
This page is to describe various issues encountered on this SR for CBS Sports.
1. DRIVERS/FW ON HBAS NOT UPTO DATE:
During investigations it was found out that host fc hba drivers and firmware were not upto
date which caused the abort/resets being issued to the QD6000 array.
2. FC HOST MAPPINGS ON QD6000 INCORRECT:
Fibre channel host mappings were incorrect. All of the mappings were in "default" group
which is incorrect. See attached Santricity host mapping script sample file
3. FC RESETS CAUSING QD6000 CONTROLLERS TO GO INTO "FAILURE"/"LOCKED" MODE:
The resets were causing the QD6000 controllers to receive massive amount of error messages
which then caused the controllers to go offline. In the logs it even indicates "Host Inteface card failed".
Then the controller indicated it "failed" in the GUI. However it did not really fail. It went into locked mode.
To get it out of locked mode we had login in to one
good controller, reboot the "bad" controller and then issue "hardwareclearlockdown" and "lemclearlockdown"
commands on the bad controller via serial port. Then rebooted the controller. Then it came up normally.
4. FC SWITCH FIRMWARE ISSUES:
Brocade 6520 fibre switch firmware had issues where some ports were "offline". No LEDs on the ports.
However other ports worked fine. Even after reboot they did not come up. It was found out from Dell that
Brocade firmware 7.30c has issues. Currently working to fix in next release.
5. INCORRECT FIBRE CHANNEL CABLING:
Customer also had incorrect cabling where there were debris inside the cables. Not sure how this
occurred but it was detected thru a fibre line test.
