Note :Firmware does not apply to QX-1200/2400

Firmware needs to be applied when:

a.      Installing new system

b.      Replacing controller

c.      Expansion of storage

 

 

1. New Features:

 

V3 GUI (Looks different than V2; can switch between the two)

Thin Provisioning

Virtual Storage (Pool of RAID Sets out of which LUNs are created)

ATS (automated tiered storage: data can be moved from one class of disks to another)

 

2. Upgrading Firmware to GL210:

Depends on what type of system you are updating fw on:

 

Quantum-Branded systems:

a. 2 Files are required:

               i. Branding file so that V3 GUI shows Quantum brand ; it only needs to be installed once

               ii. Second file is actual firmware update file

 

b. Dot-Hill Branded systems:

i. Only 1 file needed. No branding file.

ii. Firmware file must be downloaded from Dot-Hill CRC site.(customer resource center)

Firmware Update Process is same as before:

               a. Apply firmware during low I/O

               b. Enable PFU (partner firmware update)

               c. apply branding file

               d. apply firmware file

 

 

3. You can set GUI to v3 by doing: "set protocols management-mode v3"
