NetPerf Tool

Overview

NetPerf allows you to capture network performance benchmarks. You can use Netperf to capture network performance between a vmPRO appliance and a DXi system.

To capture network performance between a vmPRO appliance and a DXi system:

  1. Log into vmPRO via SSH.

  2. Type the following from the command line:

shell-escape

service iptables stop

rpm -Uhv http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/x86_64/rpmforge/RPMS/rpmforge-release-0.3.6-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm

yum install netperf

  1. Log into the DXi system via SSH.

  2. [root@asps-b-DXi4500 ~]# netserver

  3. Stop the Iptables in the vmPRO appliance: service iptables stop

  4. From vmPRO, type the following from the command line:

netperf -f MB -H <DXi system IP address>

The above example shows that the vmPRO appliace can push 150MB/s to the DXi system.
