In addition to the standard features, you can use licenses to expand your library's capabilities. Licenses can be purchased and added at any time. After the purchase, a certificate will be sent to you with a license key that you will enter from the library's WebGUI. Once added, those features will be immediately available.
The following licenses are offered:
This license supports an automated tape cartridge vaulting feature that allows vaulting of tape cartridges inside the library without user intervention, moving exported tapes to a vault location. Active vault minimizes costs by using unlicensed storage slots and eliminating manual cartridge handling and the risk of tape misplacement and damage when vaulting tape media outside the library.
This license supports a media integrity, drive utilization and media removal security reporting feature that improves understanding of library utilization and performance. Its automated report scheduling and distribution save time in monitoring library operation.
This license provides access to a licensed number of storage slots for standard partition use. While the library may have hundreds of physical storage slots configured, standard partitions can only use COD-licensed slots and access is granted based on the number of COD-licensed storage slots.
This license enables support for Library-Managed Encryption (LME) with Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) connected encryption key servers.
This license supports a policy-based media health checking feature that analyzes a tape cartridge’s Cartridge Memory (CM) and scans media to determine and report tape cartridge and media health status, improving data availability.
This license provides support for creating up to 32 standard logical library partitions to allow the single hardware configuration to be shared with multiple hosts and applications via dedicated logical library partitions within the single physical library configuration. This feature allows for the consolidation of multiple physical libraries into a single physical library configuration.
This license provides support for drive data path failover and multi-path access as well as drive-hosted library control path failover configurations. This feature enables redundant data and control paths to protect from SAN and device failures that would otherwise cause operational downtime.
This license enables partition resource utilization tracking to log drive, storage and media high watermarks during monthly time periods, reporting partition utilization information for usage determination and possible billing purposes.
With a service license, the following functionality is enabled:
- Library firmware updates
- Drive firmware updates
- Library snapshot retrievals
- Automatic Tech Support email notifications
- IVT and FRU tests
- Service log viewing
Additional Information
- Service license functionality is supported in i13.2 and higher firmware.
- The service license is not automatically installed by the firmware. It must be applied during a new library installation or upgrade to i13.2 and higher firmware.
- Installing a new service license overwrites the existing service license (if a previous service license exists on the system.
