Tools > High Availability > Convert
The Convert option allows you to convert a shared file system to high availability (HA) configuration.
On the Tools > High Availability page you can select the primary system you want to convert to an HA configuration. After the primary server has been successfully converted to HA, then you can convert the secondary system to HA.
Note: This Convert option will be unavailable (grayed out) on the Tools menu if you do not have a secondary system. If you have not already done so, specify a secondary system by using the Name Servers function. For additional information, see Configuration > Name Servers.

- At the Shared File System drop-down, select the shared file system you want to convert to a high availability configuration.
- At the MDC Address drop-down, select the IP address for the primary system. The system name and license information is displayed for the primary system.
- If your HA node also runs the blockpool, you must check Enable and then enter the virtual IP address and netmask in the Virtual Network IP Address Configuration section. Ask your network administrator for the vIP address and netmask.
- Click Convert to convert the primary system to HA.
- When the confirmation message appears, click OK to proceed or Cancel to abort without converting the primary system to HA.
- When a second message informs you whether the conversion was successful, click OK to continue.

After the primary server was converted successfully, on the Tools > High Availability page, the Secondary System panel is displayed.
-
In the System Name field, enter the host-name of the secondary system.
-
In the Port field, enter the IP address port associated with the secondary system.
-
In the Secret field, enter the secret phrase associated with the secondary system.
How do I obtain the secret phrase associated with the secondary system?
Do the following to obtain the secret phrase associated with the secondary system.
-
Use SSH to establish a connection to the secondary system.

-
At the command prompt, enter the following to display the secret phrase associated with the secondary system:

[root@secondary_system ~]# cat /usr/adic/tomcat/secrets/wsuser

-
- Click Scan Host. If the secondary system has proper licenses, a message appears showing that the secondary server is eligible to convert to HA.
- At the MDC Address drop-down field, select the IP address for the secondary system.
- If you configured vIP on the primary system, a Peer IP drop-down field is displayed for the secondary system. Choose the proper Peer IP for the vIP on the secondary system.
- Click Convert to convert the secondary system to HA.
- When the confirmation message appears, click OK to proceed or Cancel to abort without converting the secondary system to HA.
- When a second message informs you whether the conversion was successful, click OK to continue.
