Upgrade a StorNext Storage Manager Object Storage Configuration

If you have existing systems configured with Object Storage, upon upgrading to StorNext 5 release 5.1 (or later), you will notice the following changes to your configuration:

Component Description

Appliance Component

The Provider will be set to LATTUS.

Controller Component

The HTTP and HTTPS Protocol and ioport are no longer an attribute of the Controller. These attributes are now owned by the iopath component. During upgrade, these parameters are no longer set for the Controller Component.

Iopath Component

The HTTP|HTTPS Protocol, AXR|S3 Object Storage Service API, PATH|VHOST are attributes of the iopath. The hostaddress is now defined as a TCP connection endpoint. This parameter now includes an IP address (or a DNS name) and a TCP/IP port number (for example, 123.123.123.123:8080). The port number is Optional. During an upgrade, the following changes are made:

  • An iopath is created for each defined ioport.
  • The alias of the iopath is modified.
  • The Object Storage Service API is set to AXR.
  • The path style is set to PATH.
Namespace Component

The namespace component now contains AXR or S3. During an upgrade, this parameter is set to AXR.

DDM Device Component The DDM device configuration are also changed to reflect the new iopath configuration.
