LTO Drive - Air Flow
To ensure proper operation and to avoid overheating, LTO tape drives require at least 3 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of airflow to be pushed and pulled through the drive case.
It important that the LTO drive operates in a dust-free environment. Dust accumulation will negatively effective drive airflow and the ability of drive components to be properly cooled down. This can cause drive overheating issues.
Quantum recommends a negative pressure airflow for the drive. This is when more air is being pulled out of the drive case than being pushed in, creating a vacuum. This guarantees that cooler, external air will be drawn through the drive and into the case.
