By default, Mac OS X treats all directories as if they have the Set-GID bit on. When a directory or a file is created, the group permissions will be set to the same value as the Parent and not the user default GUID.
- Here is an extract from the Apple OS X open(2) manpage

XSAN clients that go into a sleep mode when a file is open on a StorNext file system (or has data in the file system cache) will prevent other clients from opening the same file. This results in extremely slow performance.
To disable sleep mode on the Apple computer, run the command:
sudo pmset -a disablesleep 1

Disable the feature by doing the following:
- Under Energy Saver, select System Preferences.
- Clear the check box under the Sleep tab to disable this feature.

To avoid accidentally reformatting all attached LUNs and removing all data on them, follow the advice given below. If these things happen and the updated system includes StorNext, this could keep StorNext from functioning.
