StorNext - How to determine the transfer rate from disk to tape drives?

Using TSM trace logging:

File movement performance is recorded in the /usr/adic/TSM/logs/trace/trace_01 file.

Here is a sample output line from the trace_01 file:

Oct 5 21:05:47 powerplay sntsm fs_fmover[7128]: E1101(18)<1627814814>:mdm3mov2175:
DISK(DISK) to /dev/sg9(000009) Output line from the trace_01 file:
Oct 5 21:05:47 powerplay sntsm fs_fmover[7128]: E1101(18)<1627814814>:mdm3mov2175:
DISK(DISK) to /dev/sg9(000009)4294967296/ 86.970668 = 49.38 MB/s
4294967296 / 86.970668 = 49.38 MB/s

The line above shows that 4294967296 bytes were transferred from DISK to media 000009 in the drive with device path /dev/sg9 for a total transfer rate of 49.38 MB/s. The fsconfig command with no options can be used to look up further information to identify the tape drive.

Still using the example trace_01 line above, more specific information concerning the request can be obtained by searching the TSM tac log (/usr/adic/TSM/logs/tac/tac_00) for the request number of 1627814814 during the 87 seconds leading up to the completion of the request on Oct 5 21:05:47. It may prove helpful to contact Quantum support if this level of performance troubleshooting is needed.
