Q-Cloud Protect uses the AWS cloud storage service, S3, to store all deduplicated data that is replicated to the appliance. It stores metadata separately in the EBS volumes attached to your Q-Cloud Protect instances. When either storage area becomes low, the cloud appliance sends an alert.

Additional Information

When you purchase a Q-Cloud Protect metered AMI, its maximum storage capacity is predefined. You will be able to use up to the specified amount of storage allocated to the launched instance.

Q-Cloud Protect offers two sizes of metered AMIs:

  • 1-20 TB of storage capacity
  • 1-90 TB of storage capacity

When you purchase a capacity-based license for Q-Cloud Protect to use within the GovCloud or C2S regions, you are predefining the maximum amount of storage capacity with the license. You will be able to use up to the specified amount of storage allocated in the license. Keep in mind that AWS will not charge you for storage until you actually back up data to the cloud appliance. If you begin to approach maximum storage capacity, you will need to contact your Quantum representative to purchase additional storage capacity.
