Xcellis WFD, Artico, and MDC NAS Clusters

StorNext NAS supports a two-node cluster with NAS failover on Xcellis WFD, Artico, and MDC servers. The following examples depict such supported NAS clusters.

To enable NAS failover within these clusters, a single NAS VIP must be assigned to the cluster. Additional requirements apply to NFS shares within NAS clusters. See NAS Failover.

NAS Failover Components

For clusters configured on Xcellis WfD, Artico, or MDC servers, NAS failover functions as follows:

  • NAS failover is automatic.
  • StorNext NAS runs on both nodes, supporting an active/passive NAS failover configuration if a NAS VIP has been configured for the cluster. For NFS shares within NAS clusters, additional requirements apply.
  • StorNext NAS services are active on one node at a time, with the master node (node 2) being the preferred active node.
  • Failback to the preferred master node is not automatic. See Transfer NAS Services to Another Node.

Additional Information

  • You must purchase the StorNext NAS license separately for each Xcellis WFD or MDC server.
  • A StorNext NAS license is included and pre-installed on every Artico at the factory.
  • For help with configuring NAS clusters, see NAS Clusters .
  • For an example of how to configure a cluster with NAS failover enabled on an Xceliis, Artico, or MDC server, see NAS Cluster Command Scenarios.
