QXS 3-Series Chassis Overview

The following applies to Xcellis Foundation, aiWARE for XcellisEmbedded (DAE), Xcellis Workflow Director (R630), and Artico systems.

QXS 2U drive chassis provide include a bezel sub-assembly that attaches to the front panel of the chassis. The bezel, comprised of a vented cover attached to an electro-magnetic interference (EMI) shield, is pre-assembled and packed within a box contained in the chassis master shipping container. The bezel might include a removable air filter that can be serviced or replaced. Instructions for attaching/removing the bezel, and for servicing or replacing the air filter, are provided in the QXS Bezel Installation Guide.

Caution: Drive blanks (air management modules) must be installed within a 24 Drive Chassis in the unpopulated drive slots to ensure system cooling and air flow.

The diagram and table below display and identify important component items that comprise the rear panel layout of a QXS RAID Chassis. The following image shows a representative example of RAID chassis models included in the product series.

The Controller I/O Module can be configured with converged network controller (CNC) ports and SFPs.

The following figures show CNC ports configured with ports that support 10 GbE iSCSI Host connections with Twinax cables. Refer to the CNC LEDs that apply to the specific configuration of your CNC ports.

CNC ports:

  • 4/8/16 Gb FC
  • 10GbE iSCSI aiWARE for Xcellis systems DO NOT support this port type

The following figures show CNC ports configured with SFP+ transceivers that support either 4, 8, or 16 Gb Fibre Channel, or 10 GbE iSCSI Host connections. The SFP form factor is the same, and the optical connections look identical, but the 10 GbE iSCSI is a different SFP. Refer to the LEDs that apply to the specific CNC ports in your controller.

QXS-312 Expansion Chassis is supported for Xcellis Workflow Director (R630), aiWARE for XcellisEmbedded (DAE), and Artico systems.

QXS-324 Expansion Chassis is supported for Xcellis Workflow Director (R630) systems only.

2 drive expansion chassis support 12 x 3.5" Large Form Factor (LFF) drives for expansion of storage capacity. The 24 drive expansion chassis support 24x2.5" Small Form Factor (SFF) drives for expansion of storage capacity. These chassis use mini-SAS (SFF-8088) connectors to facilitate attachment to the RAID Chassis and allow for additional back-end SAS expansion attachment(s).
